Central Lake Public Schools

Remembering Olivia

Hand prints for Oliva

The Central Lake second grade class is finally going to see the memorial butterfly bench installed on the playground!  On Wednesday, the cement circle was poured.  The weather finally cooperated, and the class was able to put their hand-prints into the cement for an ever-lasting hug for Olivia Hurst.  The bench will be placed on the cement slab on Monday or Tuesday of next week, once the cement is fully cured.

Thank you to all of the donors and supporters who were instrumental in making this happen.  Thank you to the second grade for your compassion and caring, and to second grade teacher, Mrs. Kelly Barry for coordinating this event.

Proud of Our CL Bands

2012-13 HS Band

On Wednesday, May 15, Central Lake parents and members of community were treated to an amazing Spring Band concert, conducted by Band Director, Sarah Phinney.  The 6th grade band played first, followed by the Middle School band and then the High School Band capped the evening with a very strong performance.

This evening was especially moving for the Seniors of the class of 2013, because the Spring performance signals that graduation is right around the corner.  We are all extremely proud of our Senior band members and the rest of the students in the high school, middle school and 6th grade bands.  You have made us all proud.

Carrick Conway Sets 300M Hurdle Record

Carrick Conway 300M Hurdle Record Holder

Carrick Conway Senior hurdler broke the Central Lake School record that stood for 21 years.  Carrick's time of 42.28 was set at the Antrim Review county championships.  Carrick's new mark will erase a long standing record held by 1992 graduate Rob Bachmann. Rob's time of 42.5 graced the record board for over twenty years.

Coach Dominick Ritchie said "Carrick set his sights on the record last season. He has worked extremely hard to break the record. He had a close call at Johannesburg last Monday and followed it up with a great performance last Thursday at the County Meet. What a thrill for a deserving young man," commented Coach Ritchie.
